## Object Oriented Programming in Python

A textbook and curriculum for introductory computer science created by Michael Goldwasser and David Letscher. The text provides a balanced and flexible approach to the incorporation of object-oriented principles in introductory courses using Python, providing a solid framework for the development of computer software.

## Math and the Art of M. C. Escher

A new course and free, online, collaborative textbook developed for MATH 124: Math and the Art of M.C. Escher. Created by Anneke Bart and Bryan Clair, open for contributions from all instructors.

In Fall 2011, Saint Louis University was recognized as a CUDA Teaching Center by NVIDIA Corportation, one of the world's leading producers of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). In order to provide support for quick, real-time graphics, GPUs are hardware that are highly parallel in nature. Recently, there has been a push to repurpose the parallelism of GPUs to provide high-performance computing (HPC) to solve a broader set of problems with applications in math, science, and engineering.

With this recognition, NVIDIA has donated 16 new GPUs for our Computer Science lab, including one high-end processor for our central server. This hardware will be used to support a new course in High-Performance Computing (CSCI 493), to be taught for the first time in Spring 2012 by Dr. David Letscher.

### Courses Below Calculus

### Calculus

### Algebra

- A series of Maple Worksheets for Linear Algebra. Some of the worksheet development was part of an NSF ILI grant. The worksheets have also been used in an MAA PREP workshop,Exploring Linear Algebra with Maple.

- The Abstract Algebra worksheets are a series of of about a dozen Maple worksheets designed to be used by students in upper division or early graduate level courses in abstract algebra. The worksheets look at concepts like Euclidean norm, Euclidean algorithm, computations in extension fields, automorphisms, groups of automorphisms, Galois groups of polynomials, and transcendental field extensions.

### Cryptography

- The Cryptography worksheets were written for an elective course in cryptography. The course breaks into four pieces, looking at: Classical cryptogrphic systems, Public Key Cryptography, Symmetric Block Cryptography, and real world issues.

## ILI Grant Course Materials

A selection of course materials for algebra, geometry, calculus, general education mathematics, Maple tutorials, and computer science. Developed from 1998-2001, supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant DUE 9851405.
