Overview

BlueJ is a freely available, integrated development environment (IDE) for Java programming which was developed specifically with teaching in mind. Though its use is not requred in this course, we will strongly encourage it.

It has been installed on patel2, and can be used in conjunction with VNC for a graphical environment. To start BlueJ, you need simply type the command bluej at a shell prompt. Alternatively it is freely available, and you may choose to download it to install on your own machine.
